It's been a long time since I was around a child acting out. Being retired, I usually go to the store on weekdays and miss the busy time when families are shopping. I recently went to the store on a Saturday and ran into this situation. It is upsetting for both parents and shoppers. This set me to wondering how parents can deal with this situation nowadays. Back in "the day" as people my age call it, we were either spanked, grounded to the house, had to do unwanted extra chores for a week, or lost privileges (we didn't have all the electronic gadgets that could be taken away back then)!
So I Googled it. I found a good article on "Acting Out". It gives a good definition of this situation along with why it happens, the symptoms, when to call a doctor and ways to treat the problem. Back in my day, we just thought the child was spoiled rotten. But there are many more things involved which can be an underlying cause.
