Children And Manipulative Toys

There are so many educational toys on the market today.  When I saw the term "manipulative toy", I had no idea what it was.  So in the process of working with learning toys, I have learned how they help children, and I figured there are probably more parents out there in the same situation.

Manipulatives are physical objects that are used as teaching tools engaging children in hands-on learning.  Manipulative play refers to activities where children move, order, turn or screw items to make them fit.  They help children learn and develop skills which will be used later in their lives. These toys can be played with individually or in a group or classroom setting which helps kids socialize and learn cooperative activity.

I have pictured a few manipulative toys.  Comments are always appreciated!
